The Great Outdoors
Each term has its own features but the whole school year includes lessons, activities and sport in
the ‘outdoor classroom’. Every age group benefits from this alternative environment and every
subject is enhanced by it. For games, the football and rugby pitches are in constant use in the
autumn and early spring, but this term the focus switches to track and field events, netball, tennis,
swimming and cricket. All are well served. The pool is heated and the cricket field’s grass square
and full outfield are kept in excellent order for the term’s fixtures.
Not only is the delivery of the sciences, mathematics, the arts, sport and the humanities improved
by the use of the school’s large outdoor estate but, very importantly, it provides gentle enjoyment
and pleasure for all.
