New Beginnings at Sompting Abbotts: Introducing Our New Headmaster

From left to right: Mr Chris Gunn, Mr Stuart Douch and Miss Claire scale

As we communicated earlier this year, our Headmaster Mr Stuart Douch has made the decision to step down from his role from September 2023 to prioritise his health and channel his energies into his artistic and writing career..

Ever since that announcement, in keeping with his steadfast commitment, Mr Douch has been diligently collaborating with Mr Chris Gunn and Miss Claire Scale to ensure a smooth and effective leadership transition.

Mr Gunn will be taking on the reins in the Autumn term as Headmaster, with Miss Scale providing key support as she assumes the significant responsibilities of Academic Lead. They will both be backed by Mrs Rachael Kelly, our hardworking Director of Studies, and Mrs Kirsty Miles, our brilliant Head of Pre-Prep.

We're immensely grateful that Mr Douch will continue to be part of our ‘family’ and to impart his wisdom to the Sompting Abbotts community, remaining an integral part of our team as part-time teacher of English and History.

His invaluable expertise and insights, accumulated over the years since his Headmastership began over a decade ago, will continue to enrich our school environment.

As we anticipate this period of transition, we're confident in our robust leadership team, who will navigate us into this next chapter. We’re looking ahead to the next one and to building further on the strong foundations laid by Mr Douch, to whom we owe a deep debt of gratitude.
