Our termly tuition fees are:

  • Nursery: we accept the full 30-hours WSCC entitlement. We do make a small additional charge if you want your child to stay for our home-cooked lunch (for more details please click here).

  • Pre-Preparatory: £3,065 (home-cooked lunch and all wrap-around care (8am-4.30pm) is included).

  • Preparatory: £3,935 (home-cooked lunch and all wrap-around care (7.30am-6pm) is included).

  • We offer sibling discounts and flexible payment plans. Bursaries and financial assistance may also be made available on a genuine needs basis

The best way to discover if our school is the right one for your child is to visit us in person. You can do this via one of our Open Days or by coming in for an individual visit, either by yourself or with your child. We’re also happy to arrange taster days for your child. We’ll allocate your child a ‘buddy’ (which often expands to two or three more!) so that they can experience a full day at school, sample a home-cooked lunch, and join in, if they want, with our sports lessons and extra-curricular fun.

Current parents describe their experience of educational life at Sompting Abbotts Preparatory School. Watch the video.

Many of our parents have hectic working lives and make full use of our free wrap-around care. You can leave your Pre-Prep child (under 8s) in our care from 8am - 4.30pm and Prep-age child (8 - 13) from 7.30am to 6pm. We make no extra charge for before- or after-school care.

Optional extra activities

  • Before-school and after-school wrap-around care: no charge.

  • Main School extra-curricular clubs in school: no charge. The choice of these varies according to the time of year and you can find more details here.

  • Pre-Prep after-school club: £14 per term. We offer three different themed after-school clubs from 3.30-4pm for children on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. So if your child attends two of these, the cost will be £28 per term, or if they want to enjoy all three, then £42 per term.

  • Your child can take instrumental one-to-one 30-minute tuition in piano, flute, clarinet, saxophone, violin, cello, guitar, drum kit and singing. The cost is £160 per term for Main School pupils and £120 per term for Pre-Prep pupils.

  • Extra tuition learning support: £16.45 per lesson.

  • We have our own shooting range on site used for specialist extra-curricular sessions with professional instruction: the cost for this each term is £25.

Financial assistance

Every year, we make available a limited number of enrolments through the Sompting Abbotts Scholarships & Bursaries Programme. We aim to be as accessible as possible. Our scheme has been established to help able children achieve their full potential, notwithstanding family means.

Awards are either merit-based or needs-based (or an element of both) and are made at the discretion of the school management.

The scholarships are merit-based and recognise and support excellence in five categories: Academic; All-rounder; Sports; Music, and Art, at the focus entry points of 7+ (Year 3) or 11+ (Year 6), but the school will consider awarding scholarships to able children in other age groups. The bursaries are needs-based and applied according to your individual circumstances.

You can contact us at any time to discuss your child.

What is a preparatory school? Like every type of school, preparatory schools are all very different in their ethos and their goals. They're also different from a mainstream state primary school.

  • At your initial enrolment, we ask for a non-returnable registration fee of £100.

  • We include Personal Accident Insurance up to £1m on your invoice at a cost of £5 per child per term.

  • We ask you to kindly pay your termly invoice for fees and any extras before the first day of the term for which they are due.
